The impact you have

Giving back is part of the experience. A 10% of every tour booking is donated to SlumRise, a Kenya-registered Community-Based Organization working in Mathare. SlumRise supports the local community through concrete projects.

Street lighting

Public streetlights are largely absent in Mathare, yet lighting is one of the first steps toward safer streets and a more liveable urban environment. SlumRise has installed XX independent solar streetlight units to improve visibility at night and support safer movement for residents.

Urban Farming

Food security is a major challenge in Mathare, yet traditional farming is rarely possible due to limited space and soil pollution. SlumRise is installing vertical farming units that can grow fresh vegetables in small areas. These gardens help provide nutritious food for the children at the Why Not Academy, while also teaching practical skills and promoting healthier diets.

Why Not Academy

SlumRise’s most important project is the Why Not Academy in Mathare, a safe space where children can learn and play in a supportive environment. It also provides a vital daily meal, offering stability for families facing food insecurity.
